Great yurt and camp site. The trail around the lake is beautiful. There is a shop there with most amenities if you forget stuff at home. Best to take 84 from the north instead of coming up south. Everything is a bit expensive but if you pack wisely and prepare well then you shouldn't have to spend much at all.
I'm sure it is beautiful, but we never got to see any of it, because we parked near a tree with a hornets nest.., the hornets attacked our car. We hid in the car for 30 minutes before we disappointedly drove home. We could see the hornets pursuing us down the mountain. We stopped after 8 miles to see if they were still there. They were... We kept going and lost them around 9 miles. They need to seriously get an exterminator to get rid of those dangerous pests. A child could get swarmed and be stung 10 times! The hornets were landing on our windshield and windows. You could get an up close view of their poison stingers jerking in and out. SCARY!!!!!
LOVE THIS PLACE!! Hands down, One of the best campgrounds within an hour of portland!! Sometimes it can be kind of hard to get a spot or a reservation but totally worth it!! And incase you forgot something they have alittle General store right on the lake! They also provide hourly boat rentals! And i believe they have paid showers..
This is one of the most beautiful camping spots in the state. I hadn't been since I was a boy scout, but it looks as though the bathrooms haven't been serviced since the last time I was here. I can't believe this place has the gall to charge 30 bucks a night for a bare bones campsite (not even with a water spigot). tent pads are uneven and full of huge rocks. The lake is incredible but I won't be back until they spend a little money on improving the disgusting pit toilets. even the ones directly next to the resort are filthy and haven't been maintained. what a sad situation for such a wonderful getaway.
The good: it's absolutely beautiful. Our campsite was spacious. The path around the lake is well maintained. Reservations were easy to make online.
The bad: other campers don't take care of the place. Trash everywhere. Our site was engulfed in black flies every day. Garbage pick up happened at 6 a.m. Dog owners really need to clean up after their pets.
